Following the success of the first series of New8, the new projects of this international drama collaboration of eight public broadcasters were presented today at Series Mania in Lille. The partners of New8 – SVT (Sweden), DR (Denmark), YLE (Finland), RÚV (Iceland), NRK (Norway), VRT (Flanders, Belgium), NPO (Netherlands) and ZDF (Germany) – have coproduced eight drama series since the start of the collaboration in autumn 2023. The aim of New8 is to coproduce high-quality series across national borders that reflect the values of public service media and appeal to a broad audience.

9.4.2024 Cologne (ots) CIVIS Media Prize 2024 – 25 nominees for Europe's most important media prize for integration and cultural diversity have been shortlisted: Candidates for the CIVIS Media Prize include entries from Aamu Film Company, ACB Stories, ARTE, Deutschlandradio, electronic media school, La Fémis, Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, funk, France 2, HFF München, hr, MADE IN GERMANY Filmproduktion, MDR, NDR, RTL+, (SIC) Pictures, SWR, Undone, UFA Documentary, WDR and ZDF. Festival films could also be submitted for the first time. The complete list of nominees can be found here as well as in the press section of the CIVIS Media Foundation website. Close to 900 productions from television, radio and the Internet were submitted for the CIVIS Competition 2024. For the first time, they came from all 27 EU member states and Switzerland. European drama collaboration announces wide range of top drama at Content London Today at Content London, partners within the New8 drama collaboration showcased their first set of eight drama series. New8 brings together eight public service broadcasters from North-Western Europe: ZDF (Germany), NPO (The Netherlands), VRT (Belgium), SVT (Sweden), DR (Denmark), YLE (Finland), RÚV (Iceland) and NRK (Norway) joined forces to create top drama, built on public service values. The first series will be broadcast in the participating countries starting 2025.

03.06.2022 – Cologne (ots) | The winners of the European CIVIS Media Prize for Integration and Cultural Diversity 2022 have been announced: The main prize of 15,000 euros, the CIVIS TOP AWARD, goes to the documentary film Schwarze Adler (Black Eagles) (Amazon Prime Video | BROADVIEW | ZDF), by author and director Torsten Körner. The film tells the story of social prejudice and hostility against black footballers. It is also the winner of the CIVIS VIDEO AWARD in the information category. The jury of the CIVIS Media Prize praised Torsten Körner´s documentary as “emotionally moving, journalistically and artistically to the point - the plight of these eagles in the German national jersey gets under your skin."

CIVIS Media Prize 2021 – The 23 nominees of what is Europe's most important media prize when it comes to integration and cultural diversity have been selected: Candidates for the CIVIS Media Prize include entries from ARTE, Bayerischer Rundfunk, Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, FYEO, HBO, Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk, Norddeutscher Rundfunk, Österreichischer Rundfunk, ProSieben, Radio Bremen, Saarländischer Rundfunk, Schweizer Radio und Fernsehen, Südwestrundfunk, Westdeutscher Rundfunk and ZDF. The productions deal with highly topical issues such as flight, racism, right-wing extremism and antisemitism in many different ways; however, they also cover strategies against hate and violence as well as strategies for the peaceful coexistence of people with diverse geographical and cultural origins. Nearly 800 productions from television, radio and the Internet were submitted for the CIVIS Competition 2021. They came from 20 EU states and Switzerland.

20.08.2020 Cologne (ots) | CIVIS Media Prize 2020 – Europe’s most prestigious media prize for integration and cultural diversity is once again honouring programme achievements in film, television, radio, the Internet and cinema. Over 900 programmes from 22 EU states and Switzerland have entered the CIVIS Competition 2020. They deal with subjects such as fleeing to Europe, racism and antisemitism in many different ways; however, they also cover strategies against hate and violence and the promotion of the peaceful coexistence of people with diverse geographical and cultural origins. ARTE, Bayerischer Rundfunk, Deutschlandfunk and France Télévisions have nominated programmes – as well as Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk, Österreichischer Rundfunk and Schweizer Radio und Fernsehen. Other nominees include Südwestrundfunk, Westdeutscher Rundfunk and ZDFneo/funk. Deutsche Welle receives an honorable mention.
