Finnforel Corporation appoints Tommi Mäkinen as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and head of Finnforel Technologies

Tommi has extensive international experience in the areas of enterprise digitalization, process automation and disruptive innovations. He joins Finnforel from Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), one of the world's largest IT services companies. At TCS, he held the role of digital transformation and innovation lead in Europe, focusing on new emerging concepts and technologies.

The Finland-based technology company Finnforel has become one of the world's leading ecological fish farms since its founding in 2017. The company’s products are currently sold in more than a thousand grocery stores in Finland under the Saimaan Tuore brand. The company achieved a significant breakthrough in November 2020, when its million-kilo production plant in Varkaus achieved its maximum capacity level for premium rainbow trout farming.

The company announced a major investment program on 11th November 2021, and has now started constructions of its first large scale gigafactory project in Varkaus, that forms the blueprint for the company’s global expansion plans. The investment includes a global genome selection and fish egg production center to be built in Hollola, Finland.
