Cyber Security Nordic attracted record numbers

Cyber Security Nordic 2023 held November 7–8 presented discussions on digitalisation, information security, cybercrime and law enforcement, cyberwar and cyberdefence along with geopolitics. Networking and happy encounters fuelled the event and gave a chance to talk about the industry’s key topics.

Cyber Security Nordic 2023 featured a record 47 exhibitors and was attended by over 1900 cyber professional decision-makers from the private and public sectors. Two programme stages also featured both international and domestic top cyber professionals.

The threat landscape in the world has changed and it was visible in the discussions held at this year’s event. Cybercrimes and cyber threats were discussed in in numerous keynote speeches. Truesec’s Alexander Andersson and Fabio Viggiani walked the listeners through the entire lifescycle of a cyber attack from start to finish. The topic was also approached from a geopolitical perspective in a panel discussion How Europe tackles cyber threats and Valentino De Sousa’s keynote speech The Cyber Threat Landscape of the Nordics.

One of the event’s most anticipated speaker, lawyer and an activist Max Schrems, also contributed to this topic in his keynote speech Data transfers from the EU to third countries in this current political situation. Microsoft’s Rachel Chernaskey’s keynote speech examined, how nation states attempt to use influence operations in parallel with cyberattacks and how these operations impact and shape elections, conflicts, and other major world events.

"HP participated in the event for the first time, and we are absolutely delighted with how the event facilitated meaningful encounters and productive discussions. Due to the excellent experience, we are considering taking part also in next year's event," shared Riku Nuottajärvi, Marketing Manager at HP.  

Kari Huolila, the Senior Security Manager at Accenture, says that at the event, they've met with current and prospective clients in person and discussed topics related to the field. Cybersecurity should be an integral part of every organization's operation.

“Cybersecurity is very topical subject in all organisations now. We are very happy with the amount of professional visitors amount as well as with the warm atmosphere at the event”, says Marcus Bergström, Business Manager of the Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre. Cyber Security Nordic will be arranged next time 29–30 Oct 2024.

The winner of the 2023 Cyber Security Nordic Competition is Laavat

The Cyber Security Nordic Competition 2023 winner is Laavat. The winner received a €10 000 price, donated by the Finnish Fair Foundation. The final of the competition took place in the form of a pitch competition at the Cyber Security Nordic event 7 November. The competition’s goal was to find innovative solutions and services that influence the development and growth of the cybersecurity industry in Finland and that have potential for international success.
