Matka Travel Fair 2024: adventure and experience tourism emphasized in programme

Share

The Matka Travel Fair 2024 programme and exhibitors have been published on the event’s website. The stage programme and exhibition stands offer inspiration and tips for travel plans for the year. As a partner country of Matka Travel Fair, Spain brings an atmosphere and the flavors of the Mediterranean that relieve acute travel fever. Matka Travel Fair is organized at the Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre from 19th to 22nd January 2024 (with a day for professionals on 18th January 2024). The Caravan Fair is arranged at the same time.

Matka Travel Fair

Matka Travel Fair 2024 opens yet another travel season, attracting exhibitors from around the world to Helsinki in January. Finnish travel habits are evolving with the times, which is particularly evident on the two renewed program stages.

“The value of travel experiences is now more recognized than before; the motive for trips is even clearer. We seek lifelong memories, opportunities to learn, self-development, but also rest and recovery from everyday challenges. To meet these needs, a new Adventure Stage will be opened at Matka Travel Fair. Here, experiences will be shared, and discussions will revolve around transformational travel, responsible choices, and adventures near and far,” says Producer Paula Tuominen of Matka Travel Fair.

There will be programs and performances on six different stages: Adventure, Nordic, Second Home, Meet the World, Mediterranea Stage, and We Love Cruises. On the Meet the World Stage, visitors can experience music, dance, and presentations from different cultures and distant countries, while the Nordic stage presents Finland's gems and the latest routes. The program aims to provide new perspectives even on familiar holiday destinations by showcasing travel routes and various accommodation, restaurant, activity, and tour guiding services.

Food is one of the major motivations for traveling and the highlight of a vacation trip. Its significance in events cannot be overstated. In addition to Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre’s revamped restaurant services, the Travel Fairs’ Mediterranea Tasty Travel area brings together the atmosphere, food offerings, lifestyle operators, and crafts of the Mediterranean region. Additionally, please take a look at the results of the culinary travel survey conducted by Matka Travel Fair.

The domestic travel area covers the entire Finland

The importance of domestic travel has increased during the pandemic, resulting in a higher presence of responsibly produced services and exhibitors with the Sustainable Travel Finland label at the fair. Domestic travel is strongly represented regionally at the Matka Travel Fair.

Second home – Holiday home abroad

The Second Home area in Hall 6 at Matka Travel Fair showcases ways to acquire a second home or holiday apartment abroad. With the growing possibilities of remote working, interest in purchasing a holiday home abroad remains high. The area has its own programme stage presenting current tips and experiences related to acquiring a second home, along with information on the purchasing process and market conditions in locations such as the Costa del Sol and the French Riviera.

Sunny Village

Exhibitors and cruise companies offering tropical sun destinations can be found in Hall 7. Here, visitors can gather information about international cruise journeys, ranging from the Mediterranean to the Caribbean and the Far East. The We Love Cruises stage in this area features presentations providing information about various cruise routes, attractions, and exotic countries like Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, and Tanzania, along with exhibitors from destinations such as Sri Lanka, Madagascar, the Seychelles, and Uganda.
