Great interest in Hanken's new Bachelor in Business programme
Hanken School of Economics’ new Bachelor in Business programme has attracted 1376 applicants in the first joint application. In addition, Hanken's master's programme in English breaks the all-time record with 1833 applicants.
The universities' first joint application for foreign language education has ended on 17 January 2024. Hanken's bachelor's and master's programmes in English have received a total of 3914 applications. Rector Ingmar Björkman is pleased with the high level of interest both in Finland and abroad.
"Our primary task is to educate responsible business graduates who promote a sustainable future, and to offer high-quality educational programmes in Swedish and English. We have spent a lot of time developing the new Bachelor in Business programme to create a programme that also ensures that foreign students get a strong foothold in the Hanken community and in Finnish society. Hanken is one of the best business schools in the world and the record number of applicants to our masters programme is in line with our best ever result in this year's edition of the Financial Times Masters in Management ranking.”
The bachelor's programme in English has 80 places. Around 300 students are admitted to Hanken's bachelor's programme in Swedish, which has an application deadline in March. The Bachelor in Business programme has applicants from as many as 80 different countries, of which about 60% live in Finland. There has been great interest in the programme outside Europe, with applicants from Vietnam, Nepal, South Africa, and USA, among others. Within Europe, most applicants come from Germany, Estonia and Italy.
Applications for Hanken's PhD programme closed on 3 January 2024 and attracted 175 applicants in this round.
"It is great that Hanken's programmes attract applicants from all over the world and that we have managed to reach out to young people in so many different countries and get them to apply to Hanken", says Ida Borgar, Head of Student Admissions.
Application figures stated in this press release are preliminary.
