Parliamentary Supervisory Council visits Frankfurt

The Parliamentary Supervisory Council will visit Frankfurt on 11–12 April 2024. During the visit, the Parliamentary Supervisory Council will meet members of the Executive Board of the European Central Bank (ECB) and representatives of ECB Banking Supervision and the European Systemic Risk Board. Topics of discussion at the meetings will include, among other things, the euro area economic outlook and ECB monetary policy, the digital euro, the state of the banking sector in the euro area, and current regulatory issues in the European financial sector.

In addition to four representatives of the Parliamentary Supervisory Council, an adviser and secretaries, members of the Board of Bank of Finland will also be present on the visit.

Households’ deposit stock grew in the second quarter of the year8.8.2024 10:00:00 EEST | Press release

In the second quarter of 2024, the stock of Finnish households’ deposit stock grew by EUR 1.7 billion in net terms. Most of all, households reallocated their assets to fixed-term deposit accounts (EUR 1.2 billion) and second most to investment deposit accounts1 (EUR 420 million). Meanwhile, households deposited EUR 80 million on overnight deposit accounts2. At a quarterly level, the last period with positive growth in overnight deposits was in the third quarter of 2022. At the end of June, EUR 68.1 billion of households’ deposits were overnight deposits, EUR 14 billion deposits with an agreed maturity and EUR 28.7 billion investment deposits. Despite the growth in the second quarter, the total household deposit stock (EUR 110.8 billion) contracted by 0.1% from a year earlier. The deposit stock has contracted on a year-on-year basis since February 2023, but the rate of decline has slowed down this year. Inlåningen från de finländska hushållen ökade med 1,7 miljarder euro netto under andra kvartalet 2024. Hushållen överförde mest tillgångar till tidsbundna inlåningskonton (1,2 miljarder euro) och näst mest till konton för placeringsdepositioner1 (420 miljoner euro). Till konton för inlåning över natten2 överförde hushållen tillgångar till ett värde av 80 miljoner euro. På kvartalsnivå har inlåningen över natten ökat senast under det tredje kvartalet 2022. Vid utgången av juni var 68,1 miljarder euro av inlåningen från hushållen inlåning över natten, 14 miljarder euro tidsbunden inlåning och 28,7 miljarder euro placeringsdepositioner. Trots tillväxten under det andra kvartalet minskade den totala inlåningen från hushållen (110,8 miljarder euro) med 0,1 % från året innan. Årsförändringen i inlåningen har varit negativ från och med februari 2023, men minskningen har bromsat in under innevarande år.
