DNA makes protecting against online scams easier – new corporate subscription DNA Varma helps block harmful websites
27.5.2024 09:00:00 EEST | DNA Oyj | Press release
Today, anyone using a digital device is likely to be targeted by scam attempts. An increasingly diverse set of threats tests the vigilance of even the most aware users. DNA’s new corporate subscription DNA Varma comes with DNA Selausturva, which helps block harmful websites.

“Cyberattacks are increasing all the time. We are constantly learning about new attacks targeting organisations’ personnel with the aim of gaining access to the organisation’s internal networks. Traficom’s Tietoturvan Vuosi 2023 data security report predicts a continued elevated threat level, which means everyone needs to stay vigilant”, says DNA’s Vice President, Communication Solutions, Mari Eklund.
Cybercriminals target individual employees knowing that they are often the weakest link in the data security chain. One of the most common tactics is phishing: The employee is sent a scam email or other message that appears to be from a trustworthy source, such as a supervisor, IT department or business partner. Clicking the link in the message may lead to malware being installed on their device, giving the criminals access to the organisation’s systems and data.
“According to the World Economic Forum’s Global Risks Report, 95% of cybersecurity issues can be traced to human error”, Eklund explains.
Telenor’s Nordic Security Survey also indicates that the biggest obstacles to improving cyber capabilities are lack of data security understanding and awareness (25%) and lack of knowledge and expertise (27%). Rushing and lack of attention can lead to human errors that benefit cybercriminals.
Data security is part of corporate responsibility
Data is a valuable resource for organisations, and protecting it should be a top priority. Today, all organisations hold some form of digital data that needs to be protected – personal data, at the very least. Every business is a potential target, as cybercriminals often seek to achieve their goals by targeting the less protected companies in the supply and subcontracting chains. This is why all companies need to keep their data security up to date and be ready to keep up with developments in a constantly changing security field.
“Taking care of data security is a corporate responsibility measure. As threats evolve, better security solutions are needed. DNA’s new security-focused corporate subscription is one of the ways we are responding to the needs of our customers and the problems they are facing”, Eklund says.
An additional layer of corporate data security: DNA Varma prevents access to identified harmful websites
The DNA Varma corporate subscription is one of the measures DNA is taking to create securer connections. DNA Varma is integrated with DNA Selausturva, which helps identify harmful websites. Data security services are typically add-on services that can be purchased for subscriptions and other connections in need of protection. DNA Varma is an exception to this rule, as it is automatically included in subscriptions.
Thanks to DNA Varma and the integrated Selausturva service, employees are more secure when using the Internet, because DNA is monitoring network security threats for users. Selausturva protects Internet users in DNA’s mobile network and blocks identified harmful websites, phishing attempts and malware.
DNA Selausturva only works with DNA mobile network subscriptions. It also works when roaming abroad. The service protects against threats even when the phone is sharing its network connection with a tethered device. DNA Selausturva only provides protection when using mobile data instead of WiFi.
DNA Varma is a 5G subscription that is available in several speed categories. In addition to speed, the benefits of a 5G subscription include reliability and energy efficiency. DNA’s 5G network already covers 96% of the Finnish population based on place of residence.
