The food court in the departure gate area after the security control at Helsinki Airport has won the Airport Food Hall of the Year 2024 award in an international tourism and restaurant industry competition. The criteria for the award include the diversity of the restaurant offering, customer satisfaction and value for money.

"We are delighted that Helsinki Airport’s restaurants and services are receiving international recognition. Dining is a significant part of the travel experience for an increasing number of passengers, and we are developing the airport’s food and drink selection in line with trends and passenger wishes.  The range of restaurants at Helsinki Airport has almost doubled since 2019, and the selection of hot food in particular has become significantly more diverse," says Nora Immonen, Finavia’s Director of Commercial Business at Helsinki Airport.

The food court at the Helsinki Airport gate area has five restaurants: Asian Kitchen, Bastard Burgers, Fafa’s, Pala Pizza Bar and Tori Kitchen & Cafe. The restaurant area is operated by restaurant service provider Select Service Partner Finland (SSP Finland).

The international Airport Food and Beverage and Hospitality (FAB Awards) competition is held annually. The food court at Helsinki Airport won in the category “Airport Food Hall of the Year”. The winner was selected by a jury of experts.

The food court opened at Helsinki Airport in autumn 2023. When it opened, it became the airport’s second food court in addition to Food Hall in Finavia’s arrivals hall. Food Hall, located in the arrivals hall, won the same FAB award in 2023. Restaurants in the Food Hall area include Levant, Lopez y Lopez, Pretty Boy Wingery, Richie’s Gourmet Hot Dogs, TGM Asian Fusion and Sake Sushi.

"We can now proudly say that both food courts at our airport have received an international award. This says a lot about Helsinki Airport's excellent food offering, which we are also constantly developing. I would like to congratulate SSP on their fantastic work and thank them for the good cooperation and our shared success story in systematically improving the passenger experience," says Immonen.
