Kempower continues as an official supplier of the Arctic Race of Norway

• After three years of collaboration, Kempower and the Arctic Race of Norway continue the partnership. 

• In 2024, Kempower provides the event with 16 Kempower Movable Chargers and a charging team throughout the race to power staff's and athletes’ electric service cars. 

• A total of 130 Hyundai electric cars will support the cyclists and the race administrators during the event.  

After three years of collaboration with the Arctic Race of Norway, an annual cycling race in Norway, Kempower will continue as an official supplier of the event. The 11th annual event will be arranged in Northern Norway on the 4–7 August 2024. The partnership enables even closer collaboration towards an emission-free event.

The Arctic Race of Norway tests the endurance of the world’s best cyclists as they come together to navigate Northern Norway’s mountainous terrain. Organized by Arctic Sport and Amaury Sport Organization, the same governing body that organizes top international sporting events, including the Tour de France, the race strongly emphasizes sustainability as it is one of the first cycling races to use predominantly electric vehicles when organizing the event.  

The Kempower charging team and a total of 16 Kempower Movable Chargers will ensure the charging capacity for the 130 Hyundai electric cars used during the cycle race. 18 teams with a total of 108 riders will compete in the race, which is arranged in the municipality of Bodø and its surroundings, in Northern Norway.

“After three years of supporting The Arctic Race of Norway with both chargers and a charging team, this is a natural step to enhance our collaboration toward an emission-free event further. With this collaboration, we can prove that reducing emissions from such events is possible, even in less densely populated areas with limited permanent charging infrastructure,” said Kempower’s VP of Communications Paula Savonen. 

During the race in 2023, Kempower charged more than 16 MWh, performed over 650 charging sessions, and the charging team travelled more than 1 000 km. 

“The Arctic Race of Norway is an event that puts Kempower's values to the test for a few days. During this race, electric cars are charged 24/7 in various conditions and diverse environments. Northern Norway demands good teamwork, endurance, and problem-solving skills from the charging team and offers a great learning experience for kempowerians, as we manage the DC charging for over 100 electric cars on site. At the same time, we get a large amount of charging data on the latest EV models on the market in a short period of time,” Savonen continued.
