Newly opened Mr. Pastrami Herttoniemi relies on quality that, according to the restaurateur, can only be achieved when enjoyed on the premises!

This week, the American BBQ-focused Mr. Pastrami Herttoniemi is celebrating its opening and, unlike many other restaurants, does not offer its dishes at all for takeaway or delivery services. Mr. Pastrami Herttoniemi quietly opened its doors in mid-February at Tiili in Herttoniemi. “People have found our place wonderfully, even though we haven't advertised at all yet, and regular opening hours only take effect from this week. I want our customers to enjoy our products in their most perfect form, which is possible only on-site. Unfortunately, our products do not improve when delivered home in a cardboard box,” says Canadian restaurateur Chris Paton, adding, “Of course, this has been a surprise for some customers, but fortunately for the majority, it has been a positive one. I believe some people are also missing social dining out again.”

“A part of Mr. Pastrami's concept is essentially this fantastic environment provided by the factory that has undergone a total renovation. I fell in love with the building at first sight and saw our American BBQ food fitting here like a glove. Once we open the terrace in the spring and the city implements the planned green area in front of the terrace for the locals' living room, I can't imagine a better place for our restaurant in Helsinki,” Chris talks about the new environment of Mr. Pastrami Herttoniemi, which is very different from the location opened in 2023 that has gained great popularity in Espoo's Westend. “In Westend, I was able to prove to myself and others that there is a demand for such food in the metropolitan area. However, I never believed that with 25 seats, we could achieve the kind of popularity we have now. It has even been a disadvantage for us, as we have too often had to sell out. This new place also looks the part of an American BBQ restaurant. For now, we focus on our customers getting perfect pastrami and brisket sandwiches for lunch and dinner from Wednesday to Sunday. We have had a lot to learn and train for, as this is about 4 times larger than Westend. Once we get the current operations running perfectly, we will also start hosting popular all American BBQ dinners here regularly on weekend evenings. When the terrace weather arrives, we will expand our opening days, but we will take it one step at a time and strictly prioritize quality going forward,” Chris outlines Mr. Pastrami Herttoniemi's future plans.

Finally, Chris promises renovations for the Westend location as well: “We will make a small interior renovation in Westend during the spring, using the same elements as here in Herttoniemi. At the same time, we will expand our drink selection to include alcoholic beverages, as here in Herttoniemi, California's Lagunitas IPA has received a great response as a food pairing with our delicacies.”

Mr. Pastrami will celebrate its opening this weekend from Friday to Sunday, where Chris promises to offer coffee and desserts to all diners. Actual grand opening celebrations are being planned for the spring together with other operators in the building when they open their locations and the terrace season is underway!

Mr. Pastrami Herttoniemi will serve customers with the following opening hours starting this week:

- Wed-Fri: 11-19

- Sat: 11:30-20

- Sun: 12-18
