Emaldo® Acquires CheckWatt, Becoming the Nordics’ Largest Renewable Energy Aggregator

Ølstykke, Denmark – April 2, 2025 – Emaldo® and CheckWatt AB have signed an agreement to join forces, combining Emaldo's pioneering energy management solutions with CheckWatt's expertise in virtual power plants and grid balancing, creating the Nordic region's largest renewable energy aggregator. This strategic merger enhances capabilities for customers, partners, and stakeholders by accelerating Europe's energy transition, enabling greater integration of renewable resources, reducing energy costs, and expanding opportunities for passive income through advanced grid balancing solutions.

With more than a decade within Swedish energy management, CheckWatt aggregates various energy resources, including customers’ batteries, electric vehicle chargers, and renewable energy, into a virtual power plant, enabling grid balancing and the ability to supply electricity during peak demand periods. This enhances grid stability, enables increased use of variable renewable energy, and reduces the need for expensive and slow grid expansion. CheckWatt delivers services to around 15,000 households and companies in the Nordics, while actively expanding to other parts of Europe.

The acquisition is subject to Sweden’s Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) regulatory approval, potentially extending the completion period to six months. Throughout this process, Emaldo and CheckWatt will operate under their existing partnership framework, ensuring uninterrupted customer service and continued delivery of high-quality, innovative solutions.

Each company remains fully dedicated to serving its own partners, customers, and stakeholders, ensuring that all collaborations and services continue uninterrupted and as usual. Both companies will maintain their commitments to partnering with a wide variety of battery manufacturers, energy asset providers, and installation partners.
