Canadian fantasy artist John Howe arrives at Tampere Hall to open his first solo art exhibition in Finland. Known for illustrating Tolkien's classic works and serving as a concept artist for the films based on these books, Howe will meet his fans during the exhibition's opening weekend on July 6th and 7th. Additionally, Howe will participate in a discussion panel about art inspired by Tolkien on Tuesday, July 9th. Media will have the opportunity to interview Howe on Friday, July 5th at Tampere Hall.

Visit Tampere Award -palkinto myönnettiin tänä vuonna yritykselle, joka on rohkeasti, aktiivisesti ja esimerkillisesti kehittänyt toimintaansa seudun matkailustrategiaan peilaten ja sitä kautta edistänyt tamperelaisen onnellisuuden tuotteistamista matkailijoille. Ensimmäistä kertaa jaettiin myös yleisön valinta -palkinto yhteistyössä kaupunkilehti Tamperelaisen kanssa ja äänestäjiltä kysyttiin, mihin he veisivät kansainvälisen vieraansa Tampereella kokemaa paikallista onnellisuutta. Yleisöäänestyksen voitti Pyynikin näkötorni.

A team from Tampereen yliopiston normaalikoulun lukio upper secondary school has won the Finnish final of the Generation €uro Students’ Award.The other finalists were teams from the Kimpisen lukio and Ålands lyceum upper secondary schools.The final was held at the Bank of Finland Museum on 19 April 2023.The award-winning team was selected by a jury composed of Bank of Finland experts, chaired by Head of Research Esa Jokivuolle. At the end of May, the Finnish winning team will participate in an international award presentation ceremony, organised by the European Central Bank (ECB) in Frankfurt.The students of the winning team Patrick Itäniemi, Vilma Suontausta, Juuso Latvateikari and Leo Boström and their tutor Eija Niskanen will get the opportunity to visit the ECB.The other teams that qualified for the finals were awarded book gift vouchers. Tampere Hall and Kantelinen Company’s production, The Snow Queen ice ballet, will have its world premiere at Nokia Arena in Tampere on the 30th of December 2022. This Finnish mega production targeted at the whole family had to be postponed earlier this year. Now they announce a renewed visual look and casting. The role of the Snow Queen will be performed by the many-time European and World Championship medallist Laura Lepistö. Kiira Korpi is stepping down from the role due to a scheduling conflict.

Two more locations have been added to the list of towns where DNA’s 5G network is available now that base stations have also been built in Taivassalo and Tammela. The area of the network already covers almost two thirds of Finns (66%) based on their place of residence, which equates to more than 3.6 million people. The expansion of the 5G network also benefits existing users, as they now have access to high-speed 5G internet in 145 municipalities. The significant rise in remote working in recent years has also increased mobile internet demand in popular second-home destinations.
