Suomen tunnetuimpiin taiteilijoihin kuuluvan Helene Schjerfbeckin teosten näyttely nähdään arvostetussa New Yorkin The Metropolitan Museum of Artissa (The Met) 5.12.2025–5.4.2026. Tämä on ensimmäinen kerta, kun suomalainen taiteilija saa näyttelyn The Metiin, joka on yksi maailman merkittävimmistä taidemuseoista. Näyttely on Ateneumin pitkäjänteisen työn tulos ja osa Klassikot maailmalle -hanketta, joka vie taidetta ulkomaille Jane ja Aatos Erkon säätiön tuella.

Harvinaisia teoksia 1500-luvulta on nähtävissä aikansa suurelta mestarilta Jacopo Bassanolta Sinebrychoffin taidemuseossa. Taiturillinen eläinten sekä valon ja värin kuvaaja loi uuden maalaustaiteen lajin, jonka myötä menestys oli taattu. Kansallisgallerian kokoelmaan kuuluvien Bassanon teosten materiaalitutkimus paljasti uusia löytöjä. Tervetuloa näyttelyn ennakkoesittelyyn ti 10.9.2024 klo 14.00. Tschabalala Self is the seventh artist to join InCollection series of exhibitions co-produced by the museum and the foundation. The centerpiece of the exhibition Around the Way is Anthurium, a newly commissioned painting by Self which will join the Saastamoinen Foundation Art Collection. Around the Way transforms EMMA’s exhibition spaces with colourful displays to evoke the metropolitan landscapes of Harlem and the atmosphere of its domestic interiors. The expansive year-long exhibition is on view from 8 May 2024 until 4 May 2025.

The monumental painting Allegory of Italy (1628–29) by Valentin de Boulogne (1591–1632) will be on display on the second floor of the Sinebrychoff Art Museum from 6 September 2023. The work will be deposited at the Sinebrychoff Art Museum during the renovation of the Villa Lante, the Finnish Institute in Rome. Valentin is one of Caravaggio’s (1571–1610) closest followers. The mini-exhibition will present to the public the unique historical context of the painting.

Den franska konstnären Pierre Huyghes nya utställning ingår i utställningsserien InCollection, som produceras av EMMA i samarbete med Saastamoinen stiftelsen. Chimeras består av fem verk som tillkommit under de senaste tio åren och som manifesterar en självorganiserande, föränderlig annanhet som kan vara icke-mänsklig eller människofrämmande. I verken förenas många slag av intelligenta biologiska och teknologiska livsformer som lär sig och utvecklas på oförutsägbara sätt. Utställningen pågår 7.6–22.10.2023.

EMMA and Saastamoinen Foundation are proud to open a new exhibition by French artist Pierre Huyghe as part of their collaborative exhibition series InCollection. His new exhibition, entitled Chimeras, brings together five works from the last decade, all manifestations of another subjectivity, non-human and inhuman, that keep transforming itself. The exhibition consists of different intelligent life forms, biological, technological that learn and evolve in uncertain states. The exhibition is on view from June 7 to October 22, 2023.

Curated by Joasia Krysa, the biennial reflects on some of the major issues of our time that appear irresolvable, such as environmental damage, political conflict and the effects of technology.

Based on the impact study, which was published by the City Executive Office, it can be concluded that the event met its objectives and the expectations regarding impact.

Admission to exhibitions at the Ateneum Art Museum is becoming easier. The Ateneum is increasing the number of daily visitors, and tickets will also be sold at the door from Tuesday 22 June 2021. The same day marks the start of the sale of additional tickets at Lippu.fi for the period from 6 July to 29 August (selling begins at 9:00). Pre-booking tickets is still recommended if you want to guarantee your admission to the museum at a preferred time. The number of visitors admitted can be increased now that the Regional State Administrative Agency for Southern Finland has relaxed the restrictions on assembly and safe distances that were in force in the Helsinki metropolitan area.
