DNA ranked first in the sustainability index
DNA holds the top position in the Finnish mobile operator sustainability index ranking list, according to a recent study* by the independent EPSI Rating organization. The EPSI sustainability index is part of the Telecommunications 2023 study and reflects Finnish people’s experiences and views on the sustainability of mobile operators.

The sustainability index examines the views and experiences of consumers, companies, and organizations on how industry players bear their social, environmental, and economic responsibilities. DNA received the best ratings from Finns in its industry for its responsible practices.
DNA places sustainability at the heart of its operations, from employees to climate and the Finns’ abilities to take part in digital society.
“We want to build a prosperous Finnish society - now and in the future. The EPSI Rating results show that we have also succeeded in our long-term sustainability work in the eyes of Finns,” says Jussi Tolvanen, CEO of DNA.
DNA’s focus on sustainability includes, among other things, a digitally equal and competent Finland so that every Finn can benefit from the digitalization, as well as the well-being of DNA’s personnel and continuous work for the climate. In terms of the environment, the goal is to achieve net-zero emissions for own operations (Scope 1 and 2) by 2030, and that as many of DNA’s partners (Scope 3) as possible would be committed to the reduction efforts in line with the Paris Agreement. As part of its environmental work, DNA has committed to the Science Based Targets initiative and work according to the ISO 14001 environmental certification.
The starting point is goal-oriented and transparent sustainability work
DNA’s services have many positive effects on society, such as the opportunities provided by digitalization for work and leisure. Telecommunications also reduce environmental impact by reducing unnecessary travel. At the same time, however, the networks consume a lot of energy, and digitalization threatens to complicate the situation for people who, for one reason or another, cannot join the digital society.
“We will continue to work hard on important sustainability issues. At DNA, we focus specifically on environmental and social responsibility issues. Our priorities are to include those at risk of digital exclusion and to keep people’s cybersecurity skills up to date. In addition, we are making persistent efforts towards demanding climate targets,” summarizes Tolvanen.

About the study
The results are part of the EPSI Telecommunications 2023 industry study. Approximately 1,000 people were interviewed in Finland in September 2023. The results are reported on an index point scale of 0-100, where as a rule of thumb, results below 60 points mean dissatisfied customers, 60-75 satisfied customers, and over 75 very satisfied customers. The sustainability index is now being published for the first time in Finland for mobile communication customers. EPSI Rating is an independent Nordic academic non-profit organisation. EPSI Rating grew out of an EU research project at the Stockholm School of Economics in 1989 and is owned by the Swedish Institute for Quality, which is owned by the Swedish government.

Onko 9%&GR hyvä salasana? DNA:n tietoturva-asiantuntija muistuttaa hyvistä salasanakäytännöistä maailman salasanapäivän aattona30.4.2025 08:55:00 EEST | Tiedote
Torstaina 1.5.2025 vietetään vapun lisäksi maailman salasanapäivää, jonka tarkoitus on muistuttaa paremmista salasanakäytännöistä.

Thursday, May 1, 2025, will be – in addition to May Day – World Password Day, that promotes better password habits. According to DNA’s information security expert, this notion is outdated, as new methods are easily able to decrypt short passwords even if they contain special characters in a vague order.

Miten Suomen viestintäverkoille käy sähkökatkon sattuessa? DNA:n asiantuntija kertoo.

Aiempaa harvemmalla 5–7-vuotiaalla lapsella on oma puhelin henkilökohtaisessa käytössään. Pienimpien lasten keskuudessa varsinkin oman älypuhelimen omistaminen on vähentynyt, selviää DNA:n vuosittain teettämästä Koululaistutkimuksesta.
