RiverRecycle is proud to announce its partnership with HCL Foundation and Centre for Development Communication (CDC) to combat plastic pollution in the Yamuna River and its tributaries. This initiative is part of HCL Foundation’s ‘My Clean City’ program, which integrates technology-driven solutions with community engagement to build sustainable waste management models across India.

RiverRecycle and HCL Foundation launched their partnership with a community cleanup event, dedicated to restoring the Yamuna River.

Paid by HCL Foundation, the project aims to prevent plastic and waste pollution in the waterways of a key area feeding into the Yamuna River. Through this partnership, RiverRecycle will deploy floating trash booms at strategic locations to intercept plastic waste before it enters critical water bodies. CDC, a leading NGO with over thirty years of experience in waste management and education, will be involved in operational activities, including waste collection, segregation, and community engagement.

“HCL Foundation’s ‘My Clean City’ initiative is an exemplary model of how technology, local expertise, and community participation can drive impactful change,” said Anssi Mikola, CEO of RiverRecycle. “Rivers are major conduits for plastic waste, and by addressing pollution at its source, we prevent environmental degradation on a much larger scale. Our collaboration with HCL Foundation and CDC ensures a scalable, effective model for river clean-ups that can be replicated across India and beyond.”

With HCL Foundation’s support, RiverRecycle’s advanced expertise on river cleaning and technology, and CDC’s local operational experience, this initiative sets a precedent for multi-stakeholder action on river conservation and waste reduction. The project marks a significant milestone in advancing India’s circular economy and sustainable waste management efforts, ensuring cleaner rivers, healthier communities, and a more resilient environment.
