Finnish National Gallery to close its museums from 30 December 2021 to 20 January 2022

The Finnish Government has made the decision on 28 December 2021, to restrict the use of COVID-19 passports between the dates of 30 December 2021 and 20 January 2022. Without the possibility to check the COVID-19 passport from visitors, it is impossible to safeguard the health safety of visitors in the museums. As a result, the Ateneum Art Museum and Sinebrychoff Art Museum will be closed from 30 December 2021 to 20 January 2022.

The Finnish National Gallery comprises three museum units: the Ateneum Art Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma and the Sinebrychoff Art Museum. The National Gallery is responsible for the State Art Collection, the management of which rests with the National Gallery’s Collections Department. The State Art Commission with its collections is also part of the Finnish National Gallery.

Ilmo Kapanens och Aarni Kapanens verk Loom of Reality vann huvudpriset i Finlands Nationalgalleris tävling för generativ konst Combine248.10.2024 13:01:41 EEST | Pressmeddelande

Huvudpriset på tiotusen euro delades ut av Jubileumsfonden för Finlands självständighet Sitra. Andra pris i tävlingen, åttatusen euro, vanns av Andreas Rau med verket Inventory Numbers. I tävlingen delades också ett pris för publikens favorit ut. Publikpriset uppgick till femtusen euro, och publiken kunde rösta på sin favorit digitalt. Publikens favoritverk var Ilmo Kapanens och Aarni Kapanens verk Loom of Reality.

The first prize of ten thousand euros was donated by the Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra. The second prize, eight thousand euros, was awarded to Andreas Rau for the artwork Inventory Numbers. The audience favorite, five thousand euros, was the result of an online vote. The audience favorite was also awarded to Loom of Reality by Ilmo Kapanen and Aarni Kapanen.

Kymmenen tuhannen euron pääpalkinnon myönsi Suomen itsenäisyyden juhlarahasto Sitra. Kilpailun toisen palkinnon, kahdeksan tuhatta euroa, voitti Andreas Rau teoksellaan Inventory Numbers. Kilpailussa jaettiin myös yleisön suosikki -palkinto, jonka arvo oli viisi tuhatta euroa. Lempiteostaan pystyi äänestämään digitaalisesti. Yleisön suosikkiteos oli Aarni Kapasen ja Ilmo Kapasen teos Loom of Reality.

Remix the Archive gives artworks from the Finnish National Gallery's collection a new form through generative art19.9.2024 11:15:00 EEST | Press release

The ten shortlisted artworks selected for the Finnish National Gallery’s generative art competition Combine24, will be on display from 20 September to 26 October 26, 2024, in Vallila Helsinki. The selected artworks were revealed to the public in early August, after an anonymous selection process. The artworks offer ten different perspectives into the Finnish National Gallery’s collection, which has been released under a CC0 license. The public are able to vote for their favourite artwork online.

De tio slutliga verken i Nationalgalleriets tävling för generativ konst, Combine24, kommer att ställas ut i Vallgård i Helsingfors mellan 20.9 och 26.10.2024. Finalistverken, som valts genom en anonym urvalsprocess och tillkännagavs i början av augusti, representerar tio olika perspektiv på den upphovsrättsfria delen av Finlands nationella konstsamling. Allmänheten får också möjlighet att rösta på sin favorit.
